EN / It should be obvious by now that we are huge fans of this crazy trio from Rotterdam. Joyful anarchy, absurd logic, brilliant outsider art, tastelessly pleasant, experimental but still with a solid beat. COOLHAVEN has a good reason to tour with LOS SIQUICOS LITORALEÑOS. It was the Argentinian Dutchman ‘Dick El Demasiado’ who, as a sort of joke that got out of hand, redefined Argentinian cumbia music, and as a result influenced groups such as ‘Los Siquicos’. Originally an all improvisational freeform band, their music soon developed into an unclassifiable, highly original style incorporating elements of cumbia, subtle noise, lo-fi tape manipulation, chamamé (the popular folk music of Corrientes), ... Los Siquicos' sweltering live shows also display a crucial visual side - the members cloaked in surreal gaucho costumes whilst psychedelic images of cows, fractals, u.f.o´s and the countryside provide a projected backdrop. Locals therefore lovingly dubbed Los Siquicos as 'El Pink Floyd de los pobres' (a poor man's Pink Floyd). Although their cd-r discography still remains buried in obscurity, the band is rapidly harvesting international acclaim. Amongst their admirers are also the Sublime Frequencies label staff.

FR / Il est évident maintenant qu'aux ateliers claus nous sommes fans de COOLHAVEN et de leur cabaret hystérique. En se joignant à la furie mexicaine de cette soirée, il retracent l'histoire du cumbia, passée par la Hollande d'une façon inexplicable et oubliée. LOS SIQUICOS LITORALENOS sont la preuve que la folie musicale s'attaque au monde entier. Psychédélisme cheap et influences populaires de leur campagne argentine deviennent pretexte aux débordements les plus incongrus et aux expérientations sonores les plus inattendues. Outsiders au sens le plus extreme, ils s'attaquent aussi bien aux vaches argentines qu'aux ovnis. L'attrait que leur porte l'équipe de Sublime Fréquencies n'est qu'une preuve de leur inégalable originalité.

NL / Het mag ondertussen duidelijk zijn dat wij grote fan zijn van dit knettergekke trio uit Rotterdam. Vrolijke anarchie, absurde logica, geniale outsider-kunst, wansmakelijke prettigheid, experimenteel maar toch met een vette beat... COOLHAVEN heeft een goede reden om met LOS SIQUICOS LITORALEÑOS
op stap te gaan. Het was de Argentijnse Nederlander "Dick El Demasiado", die als een soort van uit de hand gelopen grap, de Argentijnse cumbia muziek herdefinieerde, en zo van invloed was op groepen als "Los Siquicos". Cumbia is de muziek van de straat, draaimolenmuziek met een groot schlagergehalte, en een even hypnotiserend effect als bv. de reggea. Vreemd genoeg wordt er met dit populaire genre ook duchtig gexperimenteerd. Getuige 'Los Squicos'; invloeden van Beefheart tot Pink Floyd over Sun Ra, noise, tape-manipulaties, weirde visuals met koeien en ufo's, ... De staf van Sublime Frequencies zouden grote fan zijn ...
