NL / THE DECLINING WINTER ontstond op het moment dat Hood besloot om een uitgebreide sabbatperiode in te lassen na hun fantastische Outside Closer LP. Vrij van de druk en beperkingen die een groep als Hood meebrengt, kan je duidelijk merken dat Richard Adams meer dan een tweede adem heeft gevonden. De muziek van The Declining Winter gaat van epische claustrofobie over landelijk folk-dub, van melancholische shoegaze tot reverby lofi   •••   FIELDHEAD  is ene Paul Elam uit Leeds. Hij produceert ijzingwekkend mooie ambient die af en toe aan hiphop à la Flying Lotus raakt. Tape-ruis, versleten loops, dromerige klankmanipulaties, ... Een wisselwerking tussen bevroren laptopsoundscapes en een warm knetterend haardvuur van gemanipuleerde samples. Voor het eerst in België met zijn uitstekend debuut op Home Assembly Music op zak.

FR / Richard Adams dit avoir créé le projet THE DECLINING WINTER « pour ne pas devenir un employé de bureau pendant la mise en pause de (son) groupe ». Son groupe, c’est le duo Hood, avec qui il signa deux albums d’une electronica douce et méditative qui les fit se ranger aussi bien auprès de groupes post-rock comme Mogwai ou Low que de L’Altra ou des signatures Morr Music. Avec The Declining Winter, les paysages sonores se font à la fois plus abstraits et plus lumineux. Peut-être plus organique, aussi, puisque Richard Adams est désormais accompagné sur scène d’une formation complète, quatre musiciens qu’il appelle sa « rocking unit ». Un prévisible délice mélodique et mélancolique.

EN / THE DECLINING WINTER is what happened since Hood decided to take an extended sabbatical after their brilliant Outside Closer LP. Temporarily freed from the pressures and expectations of the Hood environment, Richard Adams has breathed an audible sigh of relief into this new project. Ranging from epic claustrophobia to rustic folk-dub explorations, with spectral atmospheres anchored to pastoral roots, The Declining Winter deliver hypnotic melancholia via abstract hip hop, shoegaze, dub and post rock explorations. ••• FIELDHEAD is Paul Elam (a resident of Leeds, UK). He produces ambient/electronic music that delights in tape hiss, geography, bleak landscapes and decaying analogue loops. Frozen laptop-generated soundscapes that produce a warmth beyond their contents via the twin violins veering off at different baroque angles in the most slow-burningly lovely way possible. He's here to present his lovely album on Home Assembly Music.
