‘We Play Together’
KAPOTSKI means music, live impro, plastic & electric, analog-digital-mechanical, bricolage, … The magic of Kapotski is about the interplay and the dynamic that arises while these three musicians (Jonas Nachtergaele, Ruben Nachtergaele & Kurt Stockman) are playing together on their self constructed sound machines. Having spent a week in France, experimenting with different ways of recording, playing, improvising and composing, they returned back home with this Triple Deck vinyl installation. This way Kapotski wants to capture that purest moment of playing music and improvising together, and getting it as accurate as possible to the listener.
The results are 3 mono-tracks, one by each musician, recorded together during an impro session. Each track is then pressed onto one vinyl disk, with the aim of spinning those three records simultaneously on 3 decks, each deck connected to its own speaker. A reconstruction of a Kapotski performance, quite literally.
Triple Deck is the first release of ‘Les Albums Claus’. The logical next step for les ateliers claus to broaden its view and scope. It will be released as a 3 record boxset, limited to 50 copies only. Each record will have a full personal recycled cover, painted and decorated by all kind of artists (painters, actors, dancers, musicians… ) in red, green or blue. The boxes are filled with all left over materials from the decoration sessions, such as pencils, fabrics, objects, paper…
The official presentation will be held in WIELS, Av. Van Volxemlaan 354, 1190 FOREST on the 1st of October, where you can experience the Triple Deck installation at work. The records will be on auto-repeat in the basement room. The limited edition packages will be for sale as well. http://www.wiels.org
For this occasion, Kapotski invites Dj Grazzhoppa, Frederic Le Junter and Dick van der Harst to give their interpretation of the Triple Deck. Three very different musicians, but all masters in their own domain (electronic, bricolage and classical). Ben Bennaouise will be the host of the evening, soundscapes by Oscar Loman.

DJ GRAZZHOPPA (Dj, Producer, Turntablist)
The pioneer of scratch and belgium hip hop, DJ GRAZZHOPPA was the first one (together with TLP, duo ‘Rhyme Cut Core’) to surf the hip hop wave in the 80’s when it came floating to Europe. Since then DJ GRAZZHOPPA has gone a long way, becoming ITF (International Turntablist Federation) and DMC Champion, producing for labels such as Brick9000 and DC Recordings, releasing maxi’s, EP’s and LP’s. Collaborated with Zap Mama, Aka Moon, Rosas, Marc Ribot, Blade, E-Life and Puta Madre (Solid vs Green). FREDERIC LE JUNTER (home made instruments and bricolage artist) Frederic Le Junter is a sound mechanic. He likes making instruments out of simple tools and objects. Sound machines he cant really master, but can only play with a kind of instability, creating surprises, which is an important factor for his improvisations. Having collaborated with tons of impressive sound sculptures/artists (Pierre Bastien, Pierre Berthet) and collectives (alibi collectief), he makes video and sound installations. Basically he is a creative centepede in loads of different projects.

DICK VAN DER HARST (multi instrumentalist, orchestrator,composer) Strongly influenced by classical, jazz and folk music, Dick Van Der Harst is a composer who searches for authenticity and multiculturalism. As composer in residence of LOD, he collaborated in music theatre productions with Alain Platel, Guy Cassiers, Thierry Salmon, among others. He will be coming to Wiels with his trio (cello and voice), the rest will be a suprise...

Le terme KAPOTSKI a des significations multiples: musique, impro live, mécanique analogique et/ou digitale. La magie du groupe se révèle lorsque les trois musiciens (Jonas Nachtergaele, Ruben Nachtergaele & Kurt Stockman) manipulent les machines confectionnées par leurs soins. Cette fois ils nous reviennent avec une installation vinyle appelée Triple Deck. Les trois vinyles contiennent des plages mono enregistrées à l'occasion d'improvisations. De manière simultanée chacune des platines reliées à sa propre enceinte interagit avec les deux autres. Triple Deck est la première sortie des albums Claus. En somme une étape logique afin que les Ateliers Claus étendent leur politique culturelle. Chaque coffret contenant 3 vinyles sera disponible dans une édition limitée (50 exemplaires). Les pochettes en carton recyclé seront décorées par différents artistes qu'ils soient peintres, danseurs, dessinateurs. Les pochettes contiendront aussi des objets tel que pinceaux ayant servi à leur réalisation. La présentation officielle se tiendra au WIELS le 1er octobre. A cette occasion vous aurez l'occasion de goûter à la première installation live. Kapotski invitera Dj Grazzhoppa, Frederic Le Junter et Dick van der Harst à interpréter le Triple Deck.
DJ GRAZZHOPPA: Pionnier du scratch et du hip-hop en Belgique. Lorsque le hip op atteignit l'Europe au début des 80's Dj Grazzhoppa fut le premier à surfer sur le genre. Rapidement il fit du chemin collaborant avec Zap Mama, Aka Moon, Rosas, Marc Ribot, Blade, E-Life et Puta Madre.
FREDERIC LE JUNTER: Artiste bricoleur et roi des instruments home made. Il récupère tout objet croisé sur son chemin. Les instruments parfois bancaux sont plus efficaces lorsque imprévisibles. Il a souvent connu comme partenaires Pierre Bastien, Pierre Berthet..... Il se livre aussi à des travaux vidéo.
DICK VAN DER HARST: Compositeur, orchestrateur, multi instrumentiste. Ses recherches sont dictées par l'authenticité, par les mélanges culturels. Il excelle aussi au théâtre aux côtés de Alain Platel, Guy Cassiers, Thierry Salmon.
