NL / Na de ontzettend sterke prestatie van GREG HAINES de laatste keer in les ateliers claus, moesten we hem wel opnieuw uitnodigen nu hij zijn nieuwe plaat “Until The Point Of Hushed Support” onder de arm heeft, een delicate compositie voor strijkers, kerkorgel, piano en percussie. Hij puurt zowel inspiratie uit klassieke componisten à la Arvo Pärt, Gavin Bryars en Philip Glass als uit het meer hedendaagse verlangen om geluid zelf elektronisch te manipuleren. Na zijn debuut op Miasmah werkte hij samen met Machinefabriek, Wouter van Veldhoven, Peter Broderick, Sam Amidon, ... Verwacht je een aangrijpende ervaring op de grens van klassieke muziek en hedendaagse improvisatie.

EN / GREG HAINES is an English musician and composer currently living in Berlin, who specializes in exploring the middle-ground between the academic world of contemporary classical music and the freedom found in the desire to manipulate and experiment with sound itself. Being heavily influenced by composers like Bryars, Reich & Glass it was especially Arvo Pärt’s minimalism that influenced Greg Haines intricate compositions. After releasing the stunning “Slumber Tides” on Miasmah in 2006, Greg toured, participated in residencies and collaborated with fellow artists like Machinefabriek, Wouter van Veldhoven, Peter Broderick, Sam Amidon, ... In march he released his latest album entitled “Until the Point of Hushed Support”. A breathtaking record for string quintet, church organ, piano, percussion and electronics.

FR / A seulement 20 ans, GREG HAINES est l’un des noms les plus intéressant d’une musique néo-classique, héritée de Philip Glass ou Gavin Bryars aussi bien que de la recherche électro-acoustique. Il vient de sortir un disque sur le label Berlinois Sonic pieces et collabore avec un de nos labels préfères, Slaapwel Records. Pour son deuxième passage aux ateliers, il présentera ses nouveaux morceaux, composés avec un ensemble à cordes.
