JEAN LOUIS (FR) This jazz/rock trio from Paris, creates its massive soundwalls and compact, distorted grooves by wooden, metallic and electronic sounds. The compositions are strongly riff based and are deeply rooted in the free spirit of the 70’s, with hypnotic rhythms, saturated sounds and explosive attitude. Pedals, trumpet, double bass and drums work their way through. You will hear influences of artists such as Zu, Marc Ducret, Meshuggah, Melvins, Vares, Stravinski, Zakir Hussein, Fela Kuti, Miles Davis and Fred Frith. Talking about variety eh?

HEINZ KARLHAUSEN & THE DIATONICS (jazz hardcore) Rotterdam/Bruxelles based jazzcore trio HK&D was formed in 2008. Featuring Portuguese Goncalo Almeida on bass and electronics, Italian Daniele Martini on tenor saxophone and effects, and propelled by Dutch Friso Van Wijck on drums, the band’s music is made of raw power with space for improvisation and an overall eclectic approach. Reflecting the wide musical background of its members, the sound of this trio draws its inspiration from free jazz, to noise and hardcore sonorities.
