NL / Met Aymeric Avice op trompet, Joachim Florent op bas en Francesco Pastacaldi achter de drums blinkt het Franse trio JEAN-LOUIS uit in wilde en chaotische grooves. Vreemde geluiden, trompetuithalen & een drijvende percussie brengen je naar het ontmoetingspunt van free jazz en post punk. Zoals Jung’s befaamde tegenstelling van het mannelijke tegenover het vrouwelijke, zo zoekt ANIMUS ANIMA zijn eigen weg tussen tussen ballads, romantiek en brute improvisatie uithalen. Als de missing link tussen Archie Shepp en Pink Floyd speelt Animus Anima met surf, jazz-rock, hard-bop en prog-rock. EPILEPTIK GRAMOFON is een trio uit Brussel en Marseille. Aanvullend op de standaard gitaar-bas-drum-formule deinzen ze er niet voor terug om allerlei objecten in hun free-rock geluid op te nemen. Tijdens hun zeldzame optredens graven ze telkens een beetje dieper in hun half geïmproviseerde composities, om steeds tot diezelfde epileptische groove te komen.

Le quatuor ANIMUS ANIMA tient son nom du concept de Jung, qui oppose ces deux termes comme le masculin s’oppose au féminin, la passion à la raison. De même, ces musiciens - dont trois sont autodidactes -alternent improvisations frénétiques et ballades langoureuses, lyrisme et concision. S’imposant comme le chainon manquant entre Archie Sepp et Pink Floyd, ils surfent sur le jazz-rock comme sur le be-bop, et privilégient une incandescente fusion des instruments
EPILEPTIK GRAMOFON est un trio bruxello-marseillais. Complétant l’habituelle formule guitare basse batterie par des objets venus de tous bords, qu’ils soient percussifs ou aident à préparer la guitare, ils improvisent tantôt un free-rock mécanique, tantôt jouent des compositions presque pop. Leurs rares retrouvailles sont pour eux l’occasion d’aller toujours un peu plus loin dans un groove décomplexé qui mérite bien l’appellation d’épileptique.

Strange sounds and bursts of trumpet invoke the freedom of a certain kind of 60’s jazz, a provocative artist like Costes and the savagery of punk. They’ve played all around France, taking along with them both free-jazz amateurs and post-punk lovers.
The quartet ANIMUS ANIMA takes its name from Jung’s concept, who opposed the two terms as masculine and feminine, passion and reason. Similarly, these musicians - of which three are self-taught - alternate frenzied improvisations and languorous ballads, lyricism and concision. Standing out as the missing link between Archie Sepp and Pink Floyd, they surf from jazz-rock to hard-bop, from prog-rock to pop, and favor a fiery fusion of instruments.
