NL / SMALL COLOR is Yusuke Onishi en Rie Yoshihara, afkomstig uit Yokohama, Japan. Hun heldere en kinderlijke pop is gebaseerd op gitaar en stem met nostalgische accenten zoals banjo, speelgoed piano en naïeve orgelmelodieën. Ondanks de nadruk op akoestische instrumenten, experimenteert Small Color ook met elektronica om zo een Japanse popvariant van de strakke 12k esthetiek te worden. Onishi is artiest, fotograaf, gitarist en de componist achter Small Color. Yoshihara is accordeoniste, lerares en zelfs een gerespecteerde kokkin. Haar culinaire talenten houden we voor een andere keer, maar je culturele eetlust zal meer dan bevredigd zijn na hun passage. Small Color vroeg trouwens aan 0 om het voorprogramma te doen. Dit nieuwe muziek ensemble werd opgericht door Sylvain Chauveau in 2004 met als doel een nieuwe vertaling te geven van zowel oude als nieuwe hedendaagse composities. John Cage & Morton Feldman komen bijvoorbeeld aan bod, maar de muziek rijkt ook tot de gitaarscene van Chicago genre Gastr Del Sol. Voor deze gelegenheid bestaat het collectief uit Maxime Bodson, Maxime Le Hung en Sylvain Chauveau zelf.
FR / Les SMALL COLOR sont encore une des douceurs que le Japon nous reserve. Venus de Yokohama, Yusuke Onishi et Rie Yoshihara chnatent et jouent entre une pop éthérée, armés d'un accordéon, d'un piano jouet et d'un orgue, auxquels s'ajoutent de délicates touches electroniques. D'élégantes comptines qui trouvent aisément leur place sur l'excellent label 12K, et qu'on se réjouit de voir passer par la Belgique. Ils ont eux-meme exigés la venue en premiere partie de 0, ensemble à géometrie variable fondé par Sylvain Chauveau, qui interprete aussi bien des pieces de John Cage ou Gavin Bryars que ses propres compositions, délicates et influencées aussi vien par Gastr del Sol que Morton Feldman. L'ensemble sera cette fois constitué de Maxime Bodson, guitariste du groupe Belge paTTon, Maxime Lé Hung fondateur du label Matamore et membre des Hoquets et de Sylvain lui-meme.

They create bright and emotional alternative pop music based on the guitar and voice with such nostalgic accents as the accordion, toy piano and the organ. Despite the heavy emphasis on acoustic instruments Small Color do not shy away from adding electronics to the warm sound palatte. Onishi is a sound artist, composer and guitarist and the primary producer for Small Color. Yoshihara is an accomplished accordion player and instructor as well as a recognized cook - you’ll not be able to enjoy her cooking skills, but the wonderful music of small color will definitly satisfy your cultural appetite. Small Color themselves invited 0, a chamber ensemble founded by Sylvain Chauveau in 2004 to support. With changing members, 0 plays pieces by John Cage as well as their own compositions, ranging from contemporary music to Chicago-like guitar pieces. For this concert, they will be Maxime Bodson from paTTon, Maxime Lé Hung from Hoquets and Sylvain himself, on guitars, piano and glockenspiel.
