Every so often, CHAD VANGAALEN emerges from his bunker in Calgary (CAN) with a batch of songs, giving us a window into the private world of this reclusive and enigmatic songwriter. He’s an expert in twisted folk songs about death & revenge, puncturing his compositions with itchy electronics and noisy guitars. His new record sees him returning to the sound of his youth, with brilliant guitar riffs not unlike Pavement or Dinosaur Jr. while his previous record, Soft Airplane, was probably the finest avant-folk album released in 2008. If you get a chance, go see his exhibitions / videoclips as Chad is a talented graphic artist too.
"Ze komen uit het Britse Leicestershire en ze heten MAYBESHEWILL. Dramatische postrock, zonder al te veel vocalen, is wat de band het best doet. Al sinds 2006 zijn ze actief en op eigen kracht hebben ze ondertussen meerdere goed ontvangen EPs en LPs uitgebracht. Vorig jaar is daar het eerste échte studioalbum ‘I Was Here For A Moment, Then I Was Gone’ bijgekomen, waar het immer kritische NME lovend over sprak: “The new record is instrumental, atmospheric, noisy brilliance that gets right inside the battered crevices of your skull and pounds on the sides.”"

Howard James Kenny’s rare and bewitching combination of looped vocals, guitar and simple synth embraces the experimental spirit of Juana Molina and Battles’ immersive atmosphere while still retaining the tenderness of Stars Of The Lid. ‘Shelter Songs’ was recorded with producer Dave Draper at FFG in Gloucester during 2010, a year that saw Howard play with the likes of Fuck Buttons, Baths, Bob Brozman and Tommy Reilly. Howard has since toured with Jonah Matranga (Far, New End Original), Dave McPherson (InMe) and Toyah Wilcox’s experimental outfit The Humans. This tour will see Howard promoting a remix album of 'Shelter Songs', alongside brand new material.
