EN / Beyt Al Tapes has been very invisible under the name Agnus Dei Records for the past few years. After a drunken night in Zanzibar the name changed to Beyt Al Tapes and got a fresh start. Not only happy with releasing tapes & cdr’s, BAT also organises concerts, designs posters, etc... Small concerts by sweet people in a style that can be categorised under “Noise” in its broadest sense.

FLOWER CORSANO DUO consists of Mick Flower (electrical japanese banjo) and drummer Chris Corsano. Both are big names in the free-improv-noise-drone scene since the 00’s. Mick Flower wrote history with Vibracathedral Orchestra, the legendary british dronerock band that took the best of The Velvet Underground and spiced it up with ethnical instruments. Corsano must be the hardest working drummer in the improv scene. He jammed with about everyone in the american noise scene: Paul Flaherty, Spencer Yeh, Carlos Giffoni, Six Organs of Admittance, Sir Richard Bishop, Jandek, Sonic Youth and even Björk. He started out as a hardcore drummer, he slowly expanded his drum kit with kettles, stringed instruments, pipes, etc. Together they’re making ecstatic free rock mystery, their record & shows a one way trip to spiritual freedom.
PING PONG TACTICS must be on of the freshest bands of the belgian underground scene. Dries Drauw, Thomas & Bert Huyghe claim to write nothing that couldn’t come out of The Smiths’ catalogue, but they’re breathing and living the DIY attitude in its most hardcore sense. They design artwork, release tapes, cdr’s and 7”s, silk screening, direct their own videos, ... At first they seem sort of silly charming, but upon closer inspection they’re the authors of a rare, dedicated artistic vision. Hated by the neighbors, loved by the kids.
NL / BEYT AL TAPES is al een paar jaar heel erg onzichtbaar onder de naam Agnus Dei Records. Na een dronken-geïnspireerde avond deze zomer in Zanzibar veranderde de naam naar Beyt Al Tapes en schopte het zichzelf nog eens onder de kont. BAT is naast een tape- en cdr-label een vehikel om concerten te organiseren, posters te ontwerpen en hoezen te zeefdrukken. Kleine concerten van lieve muzikanten die onder teringherrie kunnen gecategoriseerd worden op plekken die niets hebben met de alomtegenwoordige 'black box'.

Het FLOWER CORSANO DUO is Mick Flower, op elektrische Japanse Banjo, en drummer Chris Corsano. Elk kleppers in de free-improv-, noise- en drone-scene die begin jaren '00 de kop op stak. Mick Flower schreef geschiedenis met Vibracathedral Orchestra, het legendarische britse dronerockcollectie dat de lange livejams van de Velvet Underground recycleerde, en ze injecteerde met extra etnische instrumenten en een extra snuif space. Corsano ademt, zweet en denkt 'free improv'. Hij is zowat de hardst werkende drummer in het wereldje. Hij speelde samen met alles wat los en vast zit in de amerikaanse noisescène: Paul Flaherty, Spencer Yeh, Carlos Giffoni, Six Organs of Admittance, Sir Richard Bishop, Jandek, Sonic Youth en zelfs Björk. Hoewel oorspronkelijk een hardcoredrummer, breidde hij zijn drumkit uit met ketels, snaarinstrumenten, blaaspijpen en plastic (afvoer)buizen. Het duo is perfecte bewijs van de theorie uit gestaltpsychologie dat de som meer is dan het geheel van de delen. Ze maken de twee indringende extatisch-mystieke free rock, hun platen en liveshows zijn een trip richting spirituele vrijheid.

PING PONG TACTICS moet een van de friste rockgroepjes zijn die de laatste twee jaar de kop op staken. Het trio Dries Dauwe, Thomas en Bert Huyghe beweren zelf The Smiths-nummers te schrijven. Tegelijkertijd ademen ze een DIY-attitude uit die ooit de No Wave eigen was. Alles doen ze zelf: hoezen ontwerpen, tapes, cd-rs en 7"es uitbrengen, posters zeefdrukken, opnemen op cassette. Ping Pong Tactics lijkt op het eerste zicht misschien charmant brollig, maar getuigen eigenlijk van een zeldzame, doorgedreven artistieke consequentie. Hated by the neighbors, loved by the kids.
