Wolves Stories is dedicated to the female improv scene, from some very experienced players to a handful of bright young talents, working in various fields from poetry to soundscapes. A wolf is traditionally associated with women. Loving & protective of her children, but a fierce attacker when necessary. We invite you to a portrait of women, through music, texts, films and experiment.

JUDITH KAN se consacre à l'improvisation depuis 2009, après plusieurs années en ensembles vocaux (répertoire de musique ancienne, baroque et contemporaine). MAGGIE NICOLS was born February 24, 1948 in Edinburgh, Scotland, vocalist Maggie Nicols has worked on almost every kind of project. From dancer in the Moulin Rouge to working in a strip club, singing with revolutionary bebop pianist Dennis Rose, She joined John Stevens' Spontaneous Music Ensemble with Trevor Watts, later joined by Johnny Dyani and Carolanne Nicholls She ran voice workshops at the Oval House Theatre, played in a rock band called Octuin. She became part of Keith Tippett's magnificent fifty piece band "Centipede" which included Julie Tippetts, Zoot Money, Phil Minton, Robert Wyatt, Dudu Pukwana and Alan Skidmore. She started a Feminist Improvising Group and performed with Günter "Baby" Sommer, Lol Coxhill, John Russell, Annemarie Roelofs, the Australian Relative Band, ...

Maja JantarMAJA JANTAR is a multilingual and polysonic voice artist living in Ghent, Belgium, whose work spans the fields of performance, music theatre, poetry and visual arts. Maja Jantar often collaborates with the theatre company Crew (www.crewonline.org), a group operating on the border between art and science, performance and new technology, as well as with actor and director Ewout d'Hoore. From 2001 to present, Jantar has directed ten operas, including Monteverdi's classic Incoronatione di Poppea and Sciarrino's contemporary Infinito Nero.

Born in Belgium, with origins from Hong Kong, PAK YAN LAU started touching the keys when she was 9 years old. She attended some conservatories here and there, and took a big interest in sounds, electronics and analog synths. After some very interesting encounters she rolled into the world of free improvisation, and different doors of possibilities opened up. Currently she makes music for dance-theatre productions (‘Gadgetland’ by Lazara Rosell Albear, Saai by Tweelicht&Zoon), documentary (‘News from Nowhere’ by Christophe Van Collie), is the musical director of Shadow Theatre Company Dala Dala, band leader of The Crappy Mini Band (crazy eclectic toy/object band) & Kuruwasan (free impro/jazz quartet).
