EN / dREKKa is the experimental work of Bloomingtonian Michael Anderson, known for his involvement with the Day2 Alliance and for running the excellent Bluesanct record label (Low, Boduf Songs, Black Forest/Black Sea,...). He has been creating music since 1996 but only made two official full length Cd's - he seems to favor compilations, singles & cassettes and in doing so, becoming a collector's nightmare. His music is not easy to categorize; taking cues from genres as diverse as folk, industrial, ambient & drone he produces an interesting cinematic sound. dREKKA's challenging compositions are at the same time beautiful and menacing but always free of any constraint or predefined structure. Think of Machinefabriek, Xiu Xiu, Current 93, ... but none of them comes close to the unique sound that is dREKKA. Don't miss out on this one ...

FR / Après les inoubliables Boduf songs, c’est cette fois le fondateur de leur label Bluesanct que nous acceuillons aux ateliers claus. Connu pour son engagement auprés du collectif Day2, il est actif sous le nom de dREKKa depuis 1996. Cassettes, Cd-r, compilations diverses, il produit inlassablement mais seuls deux albums complets ont vus le jour jusqu’à maintenant. Son drone- folk emprunte aussi bien à la musique industrielle qu’à l’ambient, le rapprochant aussi bien de MachineFabriek que de Xiu Xiu ou Current 93. Unique parce que radical, sa musique s’apprécie live et ne se laisse pas manquer!

NL / Achter dREKKa schuilt de Amerikaan Michael Anderson, de drijvende kracht achter het Day2 Alliance en verantwoordelijk voor het fijne Bluesanct label. Daarmee bracht hij werk uit van onder andere Low, Boduf Songs, Black Forest/Black Sea, ... Sinds 1996 heeft Drekka nog maar 2 volwaardige full lengths op zijn naam staan, maar die worden wel mooi aangevuld door zijn bijdragen aan tientallen compilaties en singles. Over de jaren specialiseerde dREKKa zich in een heel eigen geluid dat elementen overneemt uit uiteenlopende genres als folk, industrial, ambient en drone. dREKKa's muziek is zowel donker en complex als eenvoudig en mooi. Niet makkelijk te vatten, maar des te mooier en intrigerender eens je zijn wereld binnentreedt. Eventueel zouden we artiesten als Machinefabriek, Coil, Xiu Xiu & Svarte Greiner kunnen vermelden, maar geen van die namen kan de unieke sound van dREKKA voldoende beschrijven. Niet te missen!

Streifenjunko + Hintanoi

EN / Streifenjunko makes vigorous music with the rare instrumentation of tenor saxophone and trumpet. Both rooted in Jazz and modern experiments, Espen Reinertsen and Eivind Lønning apply uncommon instrumental techniques to project a spacious sound with nothing else around. Their unique collective sound and focus shows an admirable urge to explore and a desire to create new music without boundaries. They have collaborated with a lot of exciting musicians, like Keith Rowe, Tetuzi Akiyama, Christian Wallumrød, ... Live they will grace us with presentation of their debut album "No Longer Burning" on Sofa records. Streifenjunko Hintanoi is the solo project of Giovanni Di Domenic, a musician with a love for a wide range of genres and sensibilities. From free jazz projects like Tetterapadequ to electro formation Wrapped in, Giovanni is truly immersed in music. With Hintanoi he fuses inexact melodies, jazz, all with a certain modernist inclination in its minimal form. He just released a beautiful record "Wabi" on the netlabel Merzbau.

FR /  A l’aide uniquement d’un sax tenor et d’une trompette auxquels les techniques musicales les plus incongrues sont appliquées, Espen Reinertsen et Eivind Lonning produisent un son spacial et unique. Streifenjunko vient d'Oslo, collaborateurs du Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, ces deux virtuoses font parties de ces instrumentistes qui renouvellent le jazz et donnent une nouvelle forme aux musiques improvisées. Leur album « No longer Burning » vient de sortir sur le label Sofa. Giovanni Di Domenico s’était déjà produit aux ateliers claus avec Wrapped Inn, et aux cotés de Lynn Cassiers. Musicien aux sensibilités multiples, aussi bien proche du free jazz que de l’electro-pop expérimentale, il vient de sortir son album solo « Wabi » sous le nom d’Hintanoi sur le web-label Merzbau. Un disque aux mélodies approximatives qui mêle la liberté du jazz à des penchants minimaliste plus actuels. Un disque à la beauté insidieuse et rare.

HintanoiNL / Het is niet iedereen gegeven, maar Streifenjunko maakt krachtige en vitale muziek met niets meer dan een tenor saxofoon en een trompet. Espen Reinerts en Eivind Lønning spelen met ongebruikelijke technieken om hun experimentele jazzhorizon helemaal open te trekken. Hun unieke sound en focus toont vooral hoezeer ze de nood hebben om nieuwe muziek te maken met een totale desinteresse voor om het even welke grens. Ze hebben er ondertussen al samenwerkingen opzitten met Keith Rowe, Tetuzi Akiyama en Christian Wallumrød. Live komen ze hun debuut "No Longer Burning" op Sofa Records voorstellen. Hintanoi is het soloproject van Giovanni Di Domenic, een muzikant die wat van alle markten thuis is. Van zijn freejazz experimenten met Tetterapadequ tot de elektroformatie Wrapped in - uit alles blijkt dat Giovanni echt een bodemloos vat vol muziek is. Met Hintanoi mixt hij vage melodieën, experimentele jazz en minimalisme. Hij bracht onlangs een album uit op het netlabel Merzbau - online te beluisteren op de site van het label.
