EN / The Sleeping Years is the project of singer-songwriter Dale Grundle. After his previous band, The Catchers, disbanded, Dale started writing for a more personal project which resulted in 3 home recorded ep's that rapidly garnered a lot of critical acclaim from among others, Rolling Stone and BBC Radio. A little after those releases The Sleeping Years turned into a fully fledged indie folk group getting to play shows with like-minded bands such as Okkervil River, Damien Jurado & Scout Niblett. In 2008 they released a debut album called "We're becoming islands one by one" on the French Talitres record label. The record is a gorgeous exploration of melody and melancholy which tells tales of people trying to stay connected in a world seemingly designed to keep them apart. Getting incredible positive reviews comparing The Sleeping Years to Bon Iver & Sufjan Stevens the future looks bright indeed. Isbells is the new band of Gaetan Vandewoude - until this day they are completely unknown, but without a doubt this is going to change in the very near future. Humo - the most read flemish magazine - heard their myspace and described their music as "halfway Nick Drake and Bon Iver: a promising new band from belgium, arcadian folk with dreamy and hypnotizing guitars." At les ateliers claus, they will present their debut album "I'm Coming Home", a day before its official release. A wonderful discovery!

FR / The Sleeping Years est le nouveau projet de Dale Grundle, auteur d'un album aux pépites pop mémorables "Mute" avec son groupe The Catchers (setanta), Fort du succès critique rencontré, la formation parcourut alors les routes du Royaume-Uni et d'Europe dans le longues tournées avec Divine Comedy, Pulp, Edwyn Collins ou encore Oasis. Le second album des Catchers 'Stooping To Fit', enregistré avec Robert Kirby (ancien arrangeur et ami de Nick Drake) paraît en 1998. Après de trop longues années d'absence, "We're Becoming Islands One By One", premier long format de The Sleeping Years prolonge trois Eps de toute beauté aux mélodies imparables, ce nouvel opus délivre un vibrant hommage de Dale aux siens et à sa culture irlandaise " ces gens cherchant un point d'ancrage dans un monde qui leur échappe un peu plus chaque jour ". Fragilité à fleur de peau, compositions bouleversantes, magnifiques ballades rêveuse, ou le retour d'un très grand songwriter à l’anglaise, de ceux qui délivrent des classiques instantanés l’air de rien. Isbells est le nouveau projet de Gaetant Vandewoude. Inconnus jusqu'à aujourd'hui, cela ne saurait tarder à changer, puisque le magazine flmand Humo a décrit les morceaux de leur page myspace comme "un croisement entre Nick Drake et Bon Iver, un folk aux guitares reveuses et hypnotiques". NL / Dale Grundle is de Iers-Schotse songschrijver die schuilt achter The Sleeping Years. Nadat zijn vorige band, The Catchers, het leven liet begon Dale wat nieuwe nummers te schrijven. Hij verzamelde deze op 3 minialbums die hij volledig thuis opnam en voorzag van handgemaakte hoesjes. Algauw werden deze ep's in de armen gesloten door de Britse pers waar hij zowel tussen de tips van de Rolling Stone als van de BBC stond. Dale sprokkelde een band bij elkaar met ondermeer celliste Michelle So en de voormalige drummer van Rothko; Tom Page. Zo brachten ze ook de plaat "We're becoming islands one by one" uit op het Franse Talitres. Een plaat die op een prachtige manier melodie en melancholie verweeft in verhalen over mensen die spartelen om samen te blijven - ook al lijkt de wereld gemaakt om ze alsmaar meer uit elkaar te drijven. Die uitgave resulteerde ook nu weer in fantastische reviews met vergelijkingen tot Bon Iver & Sufjan Stevens - en zo deelden ze ook het podium met Okkervil River, Damien Jurado & Scout Niblett.

Isbells is het project van Gaetan Vandewoude - tot vandaag nog zo onbekend als wat, maar wij twijfelen er niet aan dat ze snel onder het selecte groepje "grote namen uit België" gerekend mogen worden. Humo beschreef hen al als "halverwege nick drake en bon iver: een nieuwe grote belgische belofte. arcadische folk met dromerige en bezwerende akoestische gitaren." Zij stellen hun debuut "I'm coming home" hier met veel plezier voor.
