EN / Changing band names for tax purposes and calling their latest record "Money", now that doesn't sound like just another indie band. Skeletons are a four piece progressive pop band from Brooklyn, New York. Deconstructing catchy melodies with sound experiments and complex jazz patterns they often seem to sabotage themselves, rather than pleasing the listener. They're happy to live on the borderline of beautiful pop melodies and a constant cacophony, a music that is as challenging and interesting as the art rock of their more known counterparts Dirty Projectors or Deerhoof. Blackie & The Oohoos is the alt-folk outfit of Martha and Loesje Maieu. Together they sing about secret loves, hidden desires and timeless emotions. Their nostalgic music is filled with experiments and fun, giving their fairylike sound a wonderful twist. They tap into the same imaginary dreamworld as Coco Rosie or Devendra Banhart. Finally, Wolke is the project of Anja Kowalski; they'll take you to a warm yet sinister world. The quartet has found its personal voice throughout all the different genres they seem to master. By subtle arrangements they are adventurous travellers between groovy jazz, experiments and sober songwriting - but not without a wonderful German twist of course!

Blackie & The OohoosFR / Nous ne pouvions, aux ateliers claus, que nous associer à la tournée européenne des Skeletons. Dignes héritiers de le no wave new-yorkaise, ce quatuor méle motifs rythmiques jazz, ce groove froid qui rappelle le label zé, et la deconstruction sonique venue de l’expérimentation américaine. Si il existe vraiment une scéne venue de Brooklyn, alors ils sont les plus fiers exemples du fil ténu entre mélodies et sabotage, rythmique imparable et expériences imprévisibles. Leur passage en France il y a quelques semaines nous laisse espérer une enérgie scénique bienvenue en ce début d’hiver. Pour les introduire, la country réveuse de Blackie & the Oohoos sera également bienvenue en ce temps froid. Les voix entrelacées des deux chanteuses, la grace du glockenspiel et du theremin et la guitare souple et fantomatique rappellent ces villes desertes des westerns de Ford. Impossible de rester insensible à ces histoires d’amours perdues et à ces déclarations sussurées sur fond de mélodies à la Hazlewood.  En ouverture, nous découvrirons les allemands de Wolke, le projet d’Anja Kowalski. Une écriture sobre au service d’un imaginaire inquiétant, tendu du groove d’un jazz expérimental et aventureux.

NL / Skeletons is een geval apart. Balancerend op de grens tussen breekbaarheid en zwakzinnigheid, zoeken ze vaak de confrontatie met de luisteraar op. Zo verdoezelen ze hun sublieme melodieën door een overdosis geluid, dan weer wordt een perfecte popsong gebruuskeerd door een atonale energieopstoot of verdrinken ze de luisteraar in complexe jazzstructuren. Geen makkelijke band, deze Brooklynites, maar eens zo spannend! Fans van Deerhoof of Dirty Projectors zullen dit zonder twijfel weten te smaken. Blackie & The Oohoos is het alt-folk project van de zusjes Maieu waarin ze naar eigen zeggen geheime liefdesdromen, vluchtige verlangens en tijdloze emoties bezingen. Hun nostalgische muziek heeft hier en daar een verrassend weerhaakje waardoor het heerlijk vertoeven is in hun feeërieke wereld. Denk aan een opgefokte Sparklehorse of aan een fantasierijke Coco Rosie maar dan op z'n Belgisch. Openen die avond is weggelegd voor Wolke, het project van Anja Kowalski. Wolke neemt je mee in een warme, verhalende maar ook lichtjes onheilspellende wereld. Het viertal rond zangeres Anja Kowalski vindt een persoonlijke stem in de verschillende genres die het bespeelt. Door subtiele arrangementen betreedt de groep een avontuurlijke tussenweg tussen groovy jazz, experiment en ingetogen songwriting waarbij Anja's Duitse roots  af en toe de kop opsteken!
