richard skelton
richard skelton is an english musician. over the past seventeen years he has recorded over fifty albums and eps of music. a diy advocate, most of his music has been self-released, either via sustain-release (2005-2011) or corbel stone press (2009+). renown for his expressive and innovative use of acoustic instruments, his much-imitated treatment of strings — at once visceral and haunting — began in 2007 on the album ‘box of birch’, and was later developed on his trio of ground-breaking recordings, ‘marking time’ (2008), ‘landings’ (2009) and ‘verse of birds’ (2011). his work has been lauded by gramophone, mojo, q, record collector and the quietus, among others, and in 2011 he was featured on the cover of the wire magazine. in 2013 he was shortlisted for a paul hamlyn foundation award, and in 2014 he was a finalist for the arts foundation award for experimental music. an online archive of his work is maintained at aeolian.bandcamp.com.

inspired by danielewski’s masterpiece “house of leaves”, everything falls apart (efa) brings together in a brilliant dialogue prolific english producer ross tones, aka throwing snow (houndstooth), and double bass player otto lindholm (icarus, gizeh, totalism). through a deep connection and appreciation of music the two artists hit it off instantly upon meeting and despite the improvisational nature of their practice, the underlying concept of their collaboration was thoughtfully composed. they are two musicians using different languages yet achieving a mutual understanding. acting as a human fx on the initial acoustic sound, ross tones gives a new dimension to each impulse of the double bass, which, at the same time, influences lindholm's play in return. entropic and minimal, efa music morphs from stable beauty and terrifying chaos and back again, delivering a unique catharsis of unforgiving soundscapes and melodies.

throwing snow
london based migrant ross tones makes music under the ever so pertinent moniker throwing snow (houndstooth). drawing influences from a vast array of genres encompassing dubstep, uk funky, house and post-rock, his productions have a consistent comforting warmth and glistening coldness. his live sets have taken him from sonar and roskilde to berghain via tour support for the likes of bonobo, thom yorke’s atoms for peace and jon hopkins, as well as several boiler room appearances. he was asked to be part of rbma in 2013 and won a music week award as part of his snow ghosts project for best sync in 2018.
