Kin Tales - The Aunties Collective is excited to invite you to Kin Tales #5
Sunday 17.05 / 14h - 17h at Les Ateliers Claus, Rue Crickx 15, 1060 Brussels
Kin Tales are monthly gatherings to share lived kinship experiences and collectively reimagine family structure
may 17th, 2026 – On Commitment
If we were to define what kin commitment is – what words, gestures, and forms of care would we use to describe it?
in which way does kin commitment differ from the commitment we practice within friendships and blood families?
During this encounter we will:
Read a text collectively, share lived experiences, collect thoughts, desires and questions that will dissect or expand this notion.
We'll close by creating a collective charter—an invitation to imagine kin commitment in ways that will hopefully make us (and others) want it even more <3
There will be soup, a sewing spot and a kids corner.
Come as you are: listener, storyteller, co-thinker, or just curious.
Please bring an ingredient for soup - some vegetables, stock, fresh herbs, bread, ...
Love engagements based on kinship, solidarity, and communality always existed as an alternative to the nuclear family model. Yet, they often remain institutionally unacknowledged and socially incompatible. The nuclear family, which still informs our desires and social imagination, is the cause for many issues of exclusion in our societies.
Whether you wish to engage with kin constellations, already practicing it, or care about it - please join us.
Each Kin Tales event will focus on a different aspect of such engagements. Be welcome to share your own tales, learn from those of others, propose new aspects to explore together, build community, and perhaps even develop future plans with us.
Free prize contribution, please bring cash. Drink available at the bar: cash and card.
For this event, the language will be English. It is possible to talk/share in French and Dutch (and potentially many other languages), and we will find someone to translate.
Unfortunately, the toilets are not accessible to those with reduced mobility.
Child-friendly infrastructure, and accessibility considerations are part of our ongoing learning process.
